"I have worked for the same independent Kitchen company for nearly two years and have been relatively successful. I have been on a Sales Training Course with a previous company and have had product training with my current company.
Recently, my Closing ratio has declined and, as a result, my income has dropped substantially. The company have just taken on an additional Kitchen Designer, who is very successful. I am now suffering severe self-doubt and peer-pressure.
Although my current income is sufficient, I rely on additional Commission earnings and Bonuses, to be able to afford additional things in life, e.g. meals out, occasional weekends away, a nice holiday etc.
My partner is getting anxious that unless my income improves, then with the rapidly increasing cost of living, we may get to a point where we cannot afford the mortgage. I have enjoyed my job, but I seem to have ‘lost my mojo’. My current Fear and Self-doubt has led me to consider changing jobs, however, the vacancies I’ve seen are a much lower basic wage, with no commission earnings and Sales is the only real area I know and have experience in.
I have thought about joining a competitor, but I have greater trust in my company’s product & service level, and I see that as a retrograde step. Aside from having to learn a whole new product range, I would prefer to sell a bespoke product rather than work for a national company at the ‘lower end’ of the market. Although I know what to do, I am lacking confidence and more often than not, ‘Dread’ the Close. I need a ‘leg-up’ and I crave for some new techniques and advice. "
"Previously, as a result of my declining Sales performance; I was consumed by anxiety and having difficulty sleeping at nights.
Now I look forward to my Sales role, armed with a suite of tools, techniques and anecdotal stories that help me overcome a variety of difficult situations.
I look forward to objection-handling and my confidence is sky-high. Sure, I don’t close every opportunity, but I know I have done as much as I can in those situations and no longer ‘beat myself up’ about it.
My conversion-rate has increased massively and, because I do everything I can for the Customer, asking for referrals is natural and they are now so easy to obtain, even when I haven’t closed a Sale. Previously I used to take on more appointments to try and increase sales, but this didn’t improve things, I tended to rush presentations because of time constraints and ended up exhausted.
Now I am in far more control, my income is excellent and I allow myself more time to enjoy with my partner, family and friends. This rejuvenates me and I no-longer have that ‘Sunday night/Monday morning feeling’ "
